ISA Student Travel Grants

ISA Student Travel Grants provide support for undergraduate or graduate student members of the ISA with limited or no funding support, who are presenting authors on a poster or oral presentation. The award is unlikely to exceed US$ 1500. Those who demonstrate need may also receive waived registration at the congress.

Applications for travel grants will be evaluated by the Scientific Committee based on (1) the Abstract of the work to be presented, (2) the CV of the applicant and (3) the financial need of the applicant.

Laudier Histology Early Career Travel Grant

Laudier Histology, in an effort to encourage and support morphological research on arachnids, will provide travel support for undergraduate, graduate, or postdoctoral students whose morphological research utilizes histological and histochemical techniques.

Students applying for this grant support must be presenting authors on a poster or oral presentation at the upcoming International Congress of Arachnology in Canterbury, New Zealand. Awards of up to USD 2,800.00 will be considered. Priority will be given to those scholars with limited or no funding. Funding can be used for travel, registration, housing, and/or food. A budget and a clear explanation of the benefits of the grant for the recipient must be included in the application.

Eligibility:

  • Recipients must partner with Laudier Histology for histology services (histology services will be provided free of charge)
  • Awards will be considered for undergraduate, graduate, or postdoctoral students with limited or no funding support who are presenting authors on a poster or oral presentation at the upcoming International Congress of Arachnology.
  • To be eligible for this grant, research studies must utilize histology techniques. Please note: Laudier Histology utilizes super resolution microscopy and expansion microscopy rather than traditional TEM techniques.
  • Applicants must be members of ISA (International Society of Arachnology).
  • Priority will be given to applicants based in the Americas, however, applicants from all regions are encouraged to apply.

Submission Guidelines:

1. Prepare a detailed project proposal with histology requirements.

2. Submit a current CV.

3. Two letters of recommendations.

4. A detailed statement of how the travel funds will be utilized.

FISCHER ICA GRANT

The Fischer ICA Grant 2019 allows one undergraduate, graduate or postdoctoral student with limited or no funding support to join the upcoming International Congress of Arachnology (ICA) in Canterbury, New Zealand. The Grant in the amount of NZD 3000 is used to cover only expenses associated with the ICA.

The grant aims to foster the exchange between established professionals in the field of Arachnology and undergraduate, graduate or postdoctoral students who lack the opportunity of meeting members of the ISA (International Society of Arachnology) due to limited resources. The successful applicant should present their own research  at the ICA.

Applicants must present a budget and give a short statement about the benefit of the research grant, which will be evaluated by a committee. Priority will be given to applicants from developing countries.
