Araneae: Ecology & Faunistics

Spiders are important predators in all terrestrial ecosystems, keeping populations of some insects in check while themselves becoming food for other predators up the food chain. Spiders are important regulators in agroecosystems. Point diversity of spiders ranges from fewer than 100 species at high latitudes to more than 600 species in some humid tropical forests.
