Proceedings of the 20th International Congress of Arachnology

The proceedings of the 20th International Congress of Arachnology (ICA) will be published in 2017 in volume 45, number 2, of the Journal of Arachnology.

The editors of the journal are pleased to invite submissions for the proceedings issue (details below). Note that, in addition to the usual research/data papers, we also invite symposium organizers or participants to submit review papers keyed to the topics in their symposia.

Open Access.—All accepted ICA articles will be published as “immediate open access” papers, meaning that they will be openly downloadable from the JoA website upon publication, at no charge either to authors or to readers and without the need for a password.

Submissions.—All submissions to the Journal of Arachnology are now made online at

When submitting a manuscript for the proceedings, be sure to choose “ICA Paper” when asked to “Choose Article Type”.

Deadline.—October 1, 2016. Manuscripts submitted after the October 1st deadline will be considered for later issues of the Journal.

Format.—Regular Congress manuscripts should be no more than 15 manuscript pages in length (double spaced, 12-pt font), not including figures and tables. For manuscripts longer than 15 pages, authors must contact the Managing Editor prior to submission. Review papers may be longer than 15 pages at the discretion of the Editor-inChief/Managing Editor.

Instructions to Authors are available at

and should be followed closely when writing and assembling a manuscript for submission. Congress manuscripts that do not closely follow the Instructions to Authors may not be considered for publication.

Authors who are not fluent in English are urged to have a native English speaker read, edit, and help revise the manuscript prior to submission.

Review.—All Congress manuscripts will be reviewed in the same manner and with the same requirements for scientific quality and content as are all other submissions to the Journal of Arachnology.
