International Congress of Arachnology

GENERAL INFORMATION

Oral Presentations.

Each speaker (except plenary/

keynote speakers) will have 15 minutes total including

questions and discussion. We have two to three concur-

rent sessions. Speakers will be asked to step off the stage

at the 15 minute mark in order for us to stay on schedule

and allow audience members to attend talks in concur-

rent sessions.

Please prepare your presentation in MS Office

PowerPoint for Windows (preferably) and download it

to a USB memory stick. Presentation volunteers will be

available to assist presenters to download presentations

no later than the break prior to their session. Earlier is

better.

Posters.

Poster boards are situated in the Grand Lobby

of the Green Center. Posters should be no more than

4 ft x 4 ft (1.2 m x 1.2 m) in size. Poster presenters

may hang posters during the afternoon of July 3

rd

.

Poster Session I presenters should be standing by their

posters no later than 7 p.m. July 3

rd

. Poster Session II

presenters should be standing by their posters no later

than 7 p.m. July 5

.

Student Awards.

Awards for best student oral presen-

tations and best student poster presentations will be

given during the banquet the evening of July 8th at the

Denver Museum of Nature & Science (DMNS). For both

oral and poster presentations, awards will be given in

the categories of Systematics, Ecology, & Biogeogra-

phy; Morphology, Physiology, & Silk; and Behavior &

Ecology.

Venue and Town.

Maps of the Colorado School of Mines

(CSM) campus and the town of Golden can be found in

your welcome material. Most events will be held on the

CSM campus except where noted in the program. The

organizers encourage you to explore downtown Golden,

enjoy a stroll along the banks of Clear Creek, and sample

the many restaurants and bars in town. During your free

time, wander through the Pioneer “village” along Clear

Creek, see the exhibits at the Foothills Art Center, or go on

a Coors Brewery Tour.

Golden Ticket.

The Golden Ticket in your welcome

package is accepted in restaurants and stores with

a Golden Ticket in the window. Do not scratch off the

magic window until you are ready to pay your bill.

Vendors & Special Book Signing Event.

We are

pleased to welcome BioQuip and Cricket Science as

our guest vendors. Vendor tables will be in the Grand

Arachnid Collecting.

Permits are required to collect

arachnids in County, State, and National Parks. No

permits are required to collect arachnids in National

Forests. Collecting is permitted in the high elevation

areas (Loveland Pass and Berthoud Pass) where mid-

congress excursion participants will travel but is not

permitted at Rocky Mountain Arsenal where those

excursion participants will travel to see bison and
