ing supplies, including alcohol, available during the

excursions.

A reprint table will be set up in the Grand

Lobby of the Green Center during the meeting. Reprints

are free; however, donations are appreciated. Suggested

donations are 25 cents US for regular reprints and 50

cents - $2 for monographs. A donation jar will be on the

reprint table.

Silent Auction.

On July 7

th

, the Vendor Tables will be

replaced with displays and bidding sheets of items for

sale during the silent auction. These items will remain

on display in the Grand Lobby from 10 a.m. July 7

th

until 1 p.m. July 8

th

. At 1 p.m., the silent auction items

will be packed up and moved to the Denver Museum of

Nature & Science. Silent Auction ends promptly at 6:00

p.m. at the DMNS.

Alcohol Rules & Laws.

Alcohol (the kind you drink) is

prohibited in all University residence halls and adjacent

public spaces. Open containers of alcohol are not permit-

ted on public streets.

Marijuana Laws.

The possession, use, manufacture,

or distribution of illicit drugs (including marijuana) in

all University residence halls, public spaces, buildings

and other facilities, is prohibited. No marijuana stores

are in Golden. If you want to take advantage of Colo-

rado’s lenient pot laws, you will have to go to Denver

or areas outside Golden to find pot shops. And please

be aware that, according to Colorado law: you must be

21 to buy, have, or use retail marijuana; it is a felony

for anyone to give, sell or share marijuana with anyone

under 21; you must present a valid ID proving you are

21 or older; Colorado residents can buy and possess

up to 1 ounce of marijuana at a time; adults with an

out-of-state ID can purchase up to a quarter-ounce at

a time; some stores may only allow cash purchase (no

credit cards); only licensed retailers can sell marijuana

products; adults 21 or older can give up to 1 ounce of

marijuana to another adult but cannot sell it; having

more than one ounce of marijuana in your possession

can result in legal charges and fines; using marijuana

in any way (smoking, eating, or vaping) is not allowed

in public places; use of pot on federal land (national

parks, national forests) is still illegal; hotel owners can

dictate rules for their own facility.

Smoking in Golden.

The City of Golden passed a

smoke-free law in 2015 that prohibits smoking or

vaping on downtown area sidewalks and public rights

of way on both sides of Washington Avenue between 10

th

and 14

th

Streets, as well as both sides of 12

th

and 13

th

Streets between Arapahoe and Ford Streets, including

customer seating/service areas located on those public

rights of way.

Tubing in Clear Creek.

We will have a couple of

tubes and life jackets to borrow (for a $5 deposit) at

the Registration / Information Desk in the Grand Lobby

for anyone interested in tubing on Clear Creek. You can

also rent tubes and life jackets in the Student Recre-

ation Center. Remember that mountain streams are fast

moving and rocky. Please don’t drown (way too much

paperwork!).

Hiking on South Table Mountain.

The hike up South

Table Mountain (the mountain that the solifuge on the

logo is standing on) takes about 30–40 minutes (one-

way). It is a fairly easy hike. You can access the trail by

walking down 19

th

Street towards the mountain. Beware

of rattlesnakes – they are abundant on the mountain

but they are not particularly aggressive and will rattle

in warning (usually). Please leave the rattlesnakes

alone and don’t get bitten (see parenthetical comment

under tubing).

Social Events & Drink Tickets.

The four alcohol

tickets received by each participant can be used for one

alcoholic beverage at the socials on July 2

nd

, 3

rd

, 4

th

may not be used for alcoholic beverages at the Russian

Party, at the Butterfly Pavilion, or at the DMNS banquet.

There will be cash bars at the Butterfly Pavilion and at

the DMNS. If you use up all your red drink tickets we will

have a volunteer drink vendor on hand to sell you more
